We've added shade to the patio just in time for the warmer weather. And inside the rehearsal rooms you will find black light posters and colored lights so you have an option to get trippy. Hope you dig it as much as we do.

It has turned in to a bi-monthly event hosting a great variety of local food, drink, plant and craft vendors. The events are on Saturdays from 12-4 with live music starting at 2:00. We are featuring bands that rehearse at the studio. Let us know if your band is interested in performing.
These events are free, all ages and have been a wonderful way for us to socialize with our friends and patrons in a safe way after over a year in isolation. Boyle Heights is coming back to life and ESR and the ESF are a part of the revival. Come check us out!

]]><![CDATA[Covid blues]]>Sun, 19 Jul 2020 21:26:07 GMThttps://www.eastsiderehearsal.com/blog/covid-bluesMany of you know we had to close our doors for a few months in order to comply with the safety measures our city of Los Angeles was taking for all of us to stay safe. We have since re opened and are renting only our bigger rooms so that bands can remain socially distanced. We are requiring everyone to wear masks in our facility and know that we are cleaning and disinfecting all of the equipment between each band. In order to do this, we have to limit how many bands are allowed in and space appointments out so there is time to clean and keep everyone safe.
We were able to get a PPP loan that covered us through July. We hope that we can stay open but all of this remains to be seen. Many music venues in LA have already closed. We've put way too much money and sweat into this labor of love and feel that it serves our community. With your patronage we will be able to survive this and thrive once we can get past all of this madness. Please spread the word about our studio to your friends and co-workers. We just opened our online store and have Tshirts and gift certificates available.

We stay cool writing and practicing in our rehearsal rooms!

We've hosted hundreds of bands at this point here at ESR. So many have become friends and great supporters of our business and we thank you.

We have some events coming up in the fall - We are planning a regular live music series on the patio featuring some of the talented bands that rehearse here. Let us know if your band might be interested in playing one of our events. So far we've had Earth Arrow, Alma Sangre with Fredo Ortiz, and flamenco guitarist Ben Woods.

We've filled out our staff to better serve our clientele; Sergio has been with us for a while now, Carlos joined us back in the spring and Sofie is here for the summer but is leaving for college in Oregon.

In personal news, ESR owners Meg and Tony's band All Souls is having a busy year which started in the U.K. with a tour supporting the godfathers of Desert Rock, Fatso Jetson. We released our first S/T record in February (CD on Sunyata Records, vinyl pressed by Ruined Vibes), toured the states with sludge heavy weights the Melvins with a return to LA show opening for stoner rock legends Sleep at the Wiltern! Now we are gearing up for another US jaunt with the incredible Jesus Lizard in September.

After months and months of building and dealing with the city of Los Angeles we finally got our final permit to open on the last day of Feb. 2016. We did it! Open for business.

What started off somewhat slow grew quickly, and while we are not quite there yet as far as clientele, we have had some incredible names come thru our door. Producer Alex Newport, the band Om, King Buzzo from the Melvins, The Premiers, Brenda Holloway, and at the very end of the year the biggest name that could probably ever grace our presence the one and only Roger Waters from Pink Floyd! Wow, build it and they will come!

We would like to thank the community of Boyle Heights and East LA as well as the general good people of the whole city of Los Angeles for supporting us. There are some incredible local bands that use our facility, thanks so much and let's keep keeping on!
